Your adventure starts as you are picked up by your expert tour guide at Belize City for a scenic drive into Belize City. Take a few minutes to marvel at the colonial architecture and city highlights, you then pass small farms and charming Creole villages as you make your way to the Cave Park.
Upon arrival, you meet our CAVE crew and then you will be outfitted with a helmet, adjustable headlamp, life jacket, and inner tube for the cave tubing portion of the tour. After a quick safety briefing on tubing skills, you will be escorted through the lush rainforest and sacred caves, where the Mayans believed deities and ancestors inhabited. The short hike will bring you to the "Caves Branch River". This will also be the spot where you finish your float.
You will start the adventure by wading across the river, holding onto a rope strung across the water. From here, you will set out on a 25 to 30-minute walk along a jungle trail over loose gravel. Guests must be in good shape and able to keep up with the guide on this Belize jungle excursion. Throughout the walk, your guide will point out plants and animals that are native to the area.
At the entrance of the underground cave system, your guide will brief you on the cave system, rules and safety measures before you enter the water. At this time you hop on your tube, you will explore by floating through the water as your hour-long tubing adventure takes you through a mixture of calm and fast-moving waters. If conditions permit, you will float past waterfalls into the cave systems and cathedral-sized chambers and listen in amazement to the echoes of your voice while you observe the magnificent stalactites, stalagmites, and unusual limestone structures reflected by your headlamp.
Following your tubing adventure, you will head to the Belize Zoo for an incredible adventure meeting lots of new animal friends. Get up close and personal with entertaining zoo animals, the fun begins as you step into Belize Zoo's lush 84 acre tropical savanna and discover its unique history. Founded in 1983 as a way to house animals used in documentary films, this national zoo is a popular Belize excursion and has over 150 animals - many of them orphaned, rescued, rehabilitated or received by other zoological institutions.
The clean, spacious habitat enclosures allow the animals to live close to their natural environment while allowing you an up close view of them. Your Tour Guide will check in at the ticket booth then you enjoy a brief introduction to the zoo.
Watch spider monkeys at play, note the graceful walk of the deer and compare 2 different types of crocodiles and several species of native cats who call this zoo home. Hike along and see the wild pigs, the national animal of Belize and variety of other exotics.
